Fagor Recycling Inauguration

FAGOR EDERLAN GROUP DRIVES NORTH AMERICAN GROWTH WITH THE INAUGURATION OF FAGOR RECYCLING IN PENNSYLVANIA

Press Release – 10-27-2026

Blossburg, Pennsylvania — Fagor Ederlan Group continues to advance its industrial expansion strategy in North America with the inauguration of Fagor Recycling, a new company located in Blossburg, Pennsylvania. Formed in partnership with strategic partner Lorne Kalisky, the venture is 51% owned by the Basque cooperative group.

This investment reinforces Fagor Ederlan’s commitment to the circular economy and recycled aluminum, complementing the operations of Fagor Regen Aluminum, which joined the group to mark its entry into the secondary aluminum market.

Fagor Recycling will specialize in the production of recycled aluminum ingots and the valorization of recyclable materials. The plant will manufacture various alloys using exclusively recycled material, primarily targeting the U.S. market and sectors such as automotive, construction, and consumer goods.

The facilities will launch operations with an estimated annual production capacity of 12,000 tons, with the goal of reaching 36,000 tons in the coming years. The initial workforce will consist of approximately 20 people and is expected to grow to 60 direct jobs as expansion phases progress. Financially, the company projects revenues near $40 million during its first year of activity, aiming to exceed $100 million annually once the growth plan is complete.

A Specialized Industrial Ecosystem for Recycled Aluminum

Fagor Recycling and Fagor Regen Aluminum will form a specialized industrial ecosystem for recycled aluminum, enabling a broader and more competitive value proposition for clients. The proximity of both facilities will optimize logistics, streamline access to diverse industrial scrap sources, and develop a complementary range of alloys and production capabilities. Furthermore, both companies will share commercial relationships and technical expertise to meet the rising demand for sustainable materials.

Recycled aluminum offers significant competitive and environmental advantages. Around 85% of the aluminum produced in the United States comes from recycled sources, and its manufacturing requires up to 95% less energy than primary aluminum production.

With this new investment, Fagor Ederlan expands its local production footprint in the United States, broadens its alloy catalog, and solidifies its position within aluminum recycling and refining. The initiative directly addresses a market facing a structural deficit, where nearly 60% of aluminum demand is currently met through imports.

Shared Growth and Commitment to Sustainability

Jon Zuazo, CEO of Fagor Ederlan Group, emphasized:

“The addition of Fagor Regen Aluminum opened the doors to a strategic sector for our future. Today, with the launch of Fagor Recycling, we take a new step forward in our commitment to recycled aluminum—a key material for industrial decarbonization that requires up to 95% less energy than primary aluminum production. We are strengthening our capacity to offer local, sustainable, and competitive solutions to our North American customers. This investment reflects our desire to continue growing alongside our partners, our people, and the communities where we operate.”

The opening ceremony was attended by Mikel Uribetxebarria (President of Fagor Ederlan Group), Jon Zuazo (CEO), and Lorne Kalisky (Partner), alongside institutional representatives from Pennsylvania and Blossburg, future plant workers, and members of the local community.
