It's birthday season in Blossburg! Those celebrating are: Steve Losee (Sept 7), Nicole Carey (turned 19 on the 9th), Eira Losee (Sept 10), Ryan Bogaczyk (was 14 on the 11th), Damien Carey (Sept 16), and Nathan Kinsey (will be 12 on the 17th). Happy birthday to you all!
There are also several anniversaries to note this week. Steve and Eira Losee, Ralph and Sandy Mundis, and Roger and Joyce Schultz are all marking another year of life together. We wish you all many more years of happiness.
If you haven't taken the opportunity to stop in at Grace Community at the the corner of Main and Carpenter Streets, now is the time! Beginning September 17, Steve Losee will be leading a Bible study titled, "Seeking TRUTH, not trends or traditions." The study begins at 7:00 PM each Thursday, and everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy free coffee. You may contact Steve at sandel@epix.net or 638-3021. Grace Community will also be hosting a free clothing distribution on Saturday, September 19, beginning at 10:00 AM. Come on in and see one of Blossburg's newest organizations.
The Blossburg Elementary School Team (BEST) Will be having their 2nd Annual Fall Festival at the school on Thursday, September 17th. Admission is free for the 5:00-7:30 event. Kids may purchase a $5 wristband which will allow them to play games all evening. They can also spend a quarter on the chance to throw a pie at their favorite teacher! "Kids" of all ages will enjoy food, games, and a silent auction. Place your bids on some great items: gift certificates for area businesses, home-cooked food, coupon for gas/repairs, 2010 season pass to the Bloss Pool, free rental of the fire department social hall and the Kiwanis Building, and much more. Proceeds will help pay for the new playground and recreational items for the school. Don't miss this major event!
On September 19, there will be a "Pool Together" 5K race to benefit renovations at the Bloss Pool. The 3.1 mile course is mostly level and consists of paved and gravel surfaces. Entry forms are available for printing at blossburg.org. Click on the Pool Together 5K Run link.
Also on the 19th, Sleezy Construction will host a chicken barbeque in the Holiday Market parking lot. This sale benefits the Southern Tioga Youth Football program. While you're at the plaza getting your chicken, make sure to browse through the Farmers' Market. Gardens are being harvested, and there are some terrific deals waiting for you!

The first class is "Fabulous Fall Fitness" and will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00 PM, from September 14 until October 21. The classes include stretching, toning, cardio and muscle training. This is a great opportunity to get in shape before the Holidays. Another class being offered is the new "Mommy and Me" series. If you have a baby (and the baby weight) this class is for you! The class will include stretching, toning and exercises for Mommy and baby (infant to age 3), so forget about hiring a babysitter. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:15, from September 15 until October 20. For more information or to enroll, call Linda Blasz at 404-4271.
