There was a ton of fun at Siloa Lutheran Church July 13th-17th; this is the first time in the Siloa Lutheran Church history that they embarked on VBS solo. They have in the past went in with other churches in the area. This year's theme was 'Friendship Trek', and indeed it was a Trek of a lifetime. The VBS director for this year's adventure was Sue Berguson. There were 28 children, 7 youth and 17 adults in attendance. Our focus for all that Jesus taught us was a mission project to send children in Liberia to school. We took up an offering each an every night for this cause. The 'little' Bible school at Siloa Lutheran Church collected $366.67 throughout the week from the children. We made this offering process fun with a little competition of girls against boys. The children will sing at the Sunday Service July 2oth sporting there VBS clothing and there beautiful singing voices and they will take the final offering for their mission project. There was also a competition amongst the children to gather points by memorizing scriptures, the Lord's prayer, Psalm 100, bringing a friend, bringing your Bible etc. Austin Jackson was the top boy and Jillian Berguson was the top girl. They were awarded cross MP3 players. Everybody who participated in VBS received a gift. That doesn't include all the fun things they did in crafts. They made a big bird house themselves, they put a VBS logo on a T-shirt. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the kids to be wearing them and ask them about there Trek at Siloa Lutheran Church VBS.
