Blossburg is the place to be this Saturday! The Town-Wide Yard Sale, beginning at 8:00 AM, will offer terrific bargains for shoppers. Stop at the First Baptist Church on Carpenter Street to get your free map. The map shows the location of all registered sales, as well as a list of some of the items offered at each site. Don't miss this once-a-year event!

Another activity on May 16 is the Longaberger Basket Bingo at St. John Neumann's church (formerly St. Mary's). Come on up to win your share of over $1500 of baskets and goodies. $20 (tickets available at Blossburg Library) buys a stack of Bingo cards; you then play until all the baskets are awarded. You can even win multiple times! Doors open at 10:00 AM, games begin at 11:00 AM. Food, desserts, and beverages will be available for purchase.

Advanced Beginner Yoga classes begin on May 12 and continue on Tuesdays for 6 weeks. Class meets at the Town Hall Building beside Acorn Market on Main Street. The cost is $60. Contact Kathleen at 660-5873 or mainstreetyoga@gmail.com

How many plants can you grow in in 16 square feet of space? To find out, rent your Blossburg Community Garden raised box today. For just $5.00, you can rent a 4'x 4' garden box; then you can cultivate, plant, harvest, and enjoy your garden for the rest of the year. Blossburg VIBE was able to obtain a $10,000 grant from the Packer Foundation to refurbish the basketball court at Island Park. The court will be expanded and repaved. New poles and backboards will make the court game-ready. A Skate Park is also being planned for the Island. Construction may get underway as soon as this fall. Come play with us in Blossburg!

The Blossburg Memorial Library will be having a book sale on May 23, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. There will be many new fiction books for sale. Come to the library lawn (Community room, if rainy) and get some great deals.

The Coal Festival is almost here. Every year, crowds eagerly await the parade, car show, carnival, and more! On Saturday (May 23), the Kiwanis Club and Sleezy Construction combine their efforts for the busiest chicken barbeque of the year! On that same Saturday, the Farmers' Market will open, offering fresh, home-grown produce, flowers, crafts, etc. To download an application for the car show, parade, or a vendor spot, go to: http://www.blossburgcoalfestival.org.

Mark your calendar for the 21st annual reunion of graduates and attendees of the Blossburg and North Penn High School. The reunion will be on Saturday, August 1, 2009. Members of classes ending in “4” and “9” are especially urged to attend! For a schedule of reunion events, go to blossburg.org and click on the "Blossburg/North Penn Alumni Banquet Invitation" link.
