Happy birthday to Karen Lattimer of Blossburg on November 25. Birthday greetings also go out to Jessica Kennedy on the 27th. Jessica is the daughter of Barb Slocum of Blossburg.

Cub Scout Pack 2059 would like to thank the residents of Arnot for their food donations on November 14. The Scouts collected 357 items from Arnot. The Scouts and leaders appreciate your participation in helping our local communities during these hard economic times. The total number of items collected from all four Scout Pack/Troops in the area was 1,782 items!

At the most recent VIBE meeting, it was announced that the ramps and other equipment for the new Skate Park at the Island have been ordered, and Blossburg skaters are eagerly awaiting their arrival and setup. VIBE also announced that they will again be sponsoring the "Light Up the Holidays" home decorating contest. Several categories of prizes will be awarded. A new "Save Our Schools" group has formed to address the possible closing of North Penn High School. Citizens from anywhere in the Southern Tioga School District are encouraged to become involved in the effort to provide our children with the best education and to help maintain healthy communities. The next meeting of the Southern Tioga School Board will be on December 7 at 6:30 PM in the Mansfield High School library. 47 people attended the last meeting, and many Blossburg area citizens addressed the Board with their concerns and questions about the ongoing issue of the possible closing of North Penn High School. Our attendance at these meetings is extremely important for Blossburg schools and students. Everyone living withing the Southern Tioga School District is encouraged to come to the meetings in order to keep informed about the decisions being made that are vital to our children's education.
