It's time for the monthly birthday party at Riverside Park! Residents and friends celebrating in November are: Barbara Wies (6th), Peggy Dickinson (7th), Carolyn Anderson (9th), Liz Naylor (14th), Todd Watkins (21st), Gerald Bray (24th), and Connie Marble (25th).
The Arnot Cub Scouts Pack 2059 is collecting non-perishable items for our local food pantries. They distributed Scouting for Food bags to the residents in Arnot on November 7. If you did not receive a bag, call Cubmaster Kelly Thompson at 723-0916. Place your donations in the Scouts' bags and leave them outside your front door by 10:00 AM on November 14. The Scouts thank everyone for helping our community get through a tough year.
Have you heard the buzz about the possibility of closing North Penn High School? A Facebook site containing much information can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blossburg-PA/Save-North-Penn-High-School/158458014085?ref=ts, or simply go to Facebook.com and type "Save North Penn" in the search box. Many area residents have already joined this support group, and the page is updated frequently.
Just in time for Christmas, the Blossburg Fire and Ambulance Department is offering you a chance to have your family's portrait taken. Come to the fire hall on November 14 from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, or on November 22 from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Several poses will be taken with up to 3 backdrops. The $10 sitting fee gets you an 8x10 print of your choice and a CD containing all photos from the session. Photos will be ready for pickup by November 30. For more information or to get an order form in advance, call 404-0282.
Brent Shypulefski, son of Pastor John and Linda, was in town over the weekend. It's always a pleasure to have him come home to visit family and friends! Ralph and Sandy Mundis are away visiting, and Norma Burrows is taking a well-deserved vacation with family downstate. We wish them all a wonderful time, and are looking forward to welcoming them home.
The Swine Flu (H1N1) virus has hit Tioga County. Several cases have been reported among local school students. Blossburg resident Barb Slocum had Swine Flu last week (that's why this column was missing), along with her two young granddaughters. Susan missed 8 days of school, and is working hard to catch up on her assignments. Although they are over the actual flu, the remaining congestion and coughing are quite irritating.
