Blossburg News & Views
By Barb Slocum

Happy birthday to Joyce Lloyd (Oct 29) and Linda Shypulefski (Oct 30). We wish you a great day!

The Annual Fall Festival was held Sunday, October 25, at Riverside Plaza in Blossburg. It was a beautiful autumn day, and smiles were abundant throughout the crowd. Attendees browsed among the many tables of homemade food, in search of a tasty lunch. An assortment of vendors offered interesting merchandise, and there were half a dozen games for "kids" of all ages. The Blossburg Fire Department showed off its bright red engine, with the ladder extended several stories high. The Keith Lindie hayride made dozens of tours around town, carrying excited children and smiling adults through neighborhoods filled with colorful Halloween decorations. In the grass, a large display of freshly-painted pumpkins dried in the warm sun. The First Baptist Church reported that this was the best year ever for their soup sale. We thank everyone who helped make this year's festival a grand success. The festival was sponsored by VIBE, which will meet on Wednesday, October 28, in the Kiwanis building at Island Park, beginning at 6:00 PM. Come and see what is being planned next!

On Saturday (Halloween) at 5:00 PM, everyone is invited to join the costumed parade in downtown Blossburg! Trick-or-treat hours will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

The Southern Tioga School Board is contemplating the closure of North Penn High School. Many citizens feel this is not an acceptable decision. Go to http://blossburg.org/boro/notices/nphs_mac_steve.html for more information about this issue. The next school board meeting is November 9, in the Mansfield High School library at 6:30 PM.

The 5th annual Blossburg Memorial Library book sale was held October 19 - 24. The Community Room in the library basement was filled with books and videos. Those that weren't sold were donated to the American Rescue Workers.
