ANNOUNCEMENTS:

This Friday, Oct. 13, the Panthers will play Muncy at 7pm. During the Panthers half time, "Screaming Eagle Night" will be held. The Southern Tioga Youth Football teams will be introduced. The STYF Cheerleaders will also be doing an awesome dance routine for the fans. If you're not familiar with STYF, it's a program for football players and cheerleaders in grades K-6. The children, coaches, board members and officers are made up from Blossburg, Liberty, and Mansfield. STYF was founded by the late Mark Mundis and has grown into a great organization. So come on out and support our Panthers and get a peak at our future Panthers!

Don't forget the Octoberfest activities being held this Saturday, October 14, at Riverside Plaza. The fun begins at 11am and continues until about 5pm. There will be food, pumpkin painting, vendors, hayrides, etc. throughout the day. The Octoberfest is held every year and sponsored by the Coal Festival Committee.

There will be a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Area Youth Soccer Organization on Saturday, Oct.14, from 5:30-8pm, at the Kiwanis bldg., on the Island Park. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for age 5-12, and free under age 5!

Trick or Treat! The Blossburg Borough trick or treat will be held on Tuesday, Oct.31, 6-8pm.The parade will begin at 5pm at the old Ambulance bldg. (across from Bloss Hardware) and proceed down Main St. to end at the new Fire and Ambulance bldg. where costume judging will be held. Drivers- watch out for little witches and ghosts crossing the street in dark clothing duirng those hours!

LIBRARY NEWS:

Preschool Story Hour will be held every Thursday from Oct.5- Nov. 30 at 10am in the community room at the Blossburg Memorial Library.Teen Read Week is Oct.15-21. Stop by the library or check out the website(www.blossburgmemoriallibrary.com) for a schedule of events. The book club is reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi this month. The book club meets the last Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the community room. Free babysitting services are available. Call the library at 638-2197 for more information. The library is collecting new socks during the month of October for the "Sock it to Us" Program sponsored by the Foster Grandparent Program.

REMINDERS:

A food pantry is held the 3rd Monday each month from 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm at The First United Methodist Church of Blossburg. For more information, contact Betty Johnson at (570)638-2805.

The Farmer's Market is at the Blossburg Plaza every Sat., 8 a.m.- 1p.m., rain or shine. New vendors are welcome. For information, contact Tonya at mcnamara@epix.net.

T.O.P.S. (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Blossburg. Weigh-in is at 5 p.m.

Blossburg BINGO! Every Monday bingo is held at St. Mary's Hall, 6:30pm and every Wednesday at the fire & ambulance building, 6:30pm
